The first time I recorded an event for higher was in college when I recorded the male talent show with a single camera. The editing was done on a tape to tape video editing machine before it was replaced by a digital work station, and I made VHS copies using a stack VCRs that we wired together. After that, my professor, mentor, and friend started to higher me as his second camera at weddings. After I got a taste for it, I decided that I wanted to record weddings more often.
In 2005, Keith Michael Productions was born. I started as single camera operation recording to MiniDV tapes with one external mic. Over the years, the technology has changed, and some of the techniques. But what hasn’t changed is what is at the center of each production, and that is the couple getting married. That will always be the story that I capture. This company has been a joy to grow over the years, but it is not my full time gig. During the week you can find me still working at the same University I graduated from. There I am the studio engineer, and equipment guru taking care of all the equipment, tv studios, and computer labs for our media students. And I get to teach as well, helping a new generation learn about media production. Over the past almost two decades, I have mostly focused on the video side of weddings but at the same time working in some photography as well. In 2023, I have made the decision to focus only on photography. I thank every single one of my couples who I have been able to record their video over the past two decades. Keith Michael Productions now starts a new journey focusing only on photography. |
